Sagano Japanese Restaurant in Barrington

I love Sagano..so fresh and reasonable. My kids love to go there. Everything is so delicious..you should try this place...I highly recommend Sagano..yummy yummy.Spicy tuna ..Sagano roll..dragon maki..etc...

Best sushi I have ever had and for the price you cant beat this.

Food was excellent but was in need of a deep cleaning Lots of dust everywhere and sushi case was very dirty looking.

This place has such a great atmosphere! The music was great, the decorations were cozy, and the waitress was extremely friendly. I went to Japan last year and I think the experience I had here was the closest I've had to enjoying a great meal with my friends in Tokyo. The food was delicious, I definitely can recommend the yakitori and the bento box combination to get a great sample of everything. Thanks again for the delicious meal and lovely evening Sagano!

The Sagono food offerings are always tasty. The servers are always attentive, helpful and friendly.

Consistently excellent food and service in an interesting, friendly, creative and intimate atmosphere. Literally the best sushi period, created by a top chef who I believe has owned the restaurant the whole time.I’ve been coming here for decades and have always been completely satisfied and amazed at how good it is.I always highly recommend Sagano.

The Spicy Tuna Rolls are GREAT!Just saw a review saying "worst sushi in suburbs". Don't know what would have prompted that reaction or where that person normally eats, but I've eaten sushi all over the Chicago area as well as in Hong Kong, Singapore and other places in Asia. The sushi at Sagano in Barrington, is EXCEPTIONAL, fairly priced and the service is always great. I've been going here for I would guess close to 20 years and I've never had a bad experience and Mr. Lee always has a smile on his face. I highly recommend Sagano.

This place is Barrington’s hidden gem. My family and I absolutely love it here. The staff is sweet and always remembers us, the food is spectacular and, if you ask me, underpriced. The ambience is beautiful, I love the classical music they always have playing and the plants! It feels like a forest!

Such a quaint wholesome Japanese atmosphere! The food is incredibly delicious and the ambiance reminds you of Kyoto, Japan! They also were extremely thoughtful to create a nice surprise for my wife when we visited on her birthday! I recommend Sagano to everyone! Thanks again for the kind service. We will definitely be coming back soon!

We regularly take-out and sometimes dine in at Sagano. This is our favorite sushi restaurant in the northwest suburbs for quality of food. The staff is very friendly, accommodating to special requests, and generous with portions.

Certainly a place worth visiting, the food is excellent and well prepared, the pricing is reasonable and it is constantly well organized there. Kudos.

Awesome. Despite the fact that this fine restaurant has been in Barrington for something like thirty years, it remains a hidden gem. Prices are very reasonable the food is delicious and the cuisine is authentic. If you don't feel like dealing with the hustle and bustle of some of the newer establishments in town, please stop in here and enjoy authentic Asian Cuisine. The owner is super friendly and takes pride in his craft.

Sagano is definitely underrated 😑 my fiancé and i came here for hours birthday. It was very low key and there were only 2 other tables in the restaurant that had people at them.... This place definitely deserves a lot more credit. The service was very respectful and helpful when suggesting dishes and drinks. Once we got our food we were definitely surprised by the portion size as they were quite big. The food was so good and tasted fresh. We will definitely be back ☺️

This restaurant is the one I like best. I go to a lot of restaurants but to this restaurant I go the most. The stuff is very warm and the food they place on your table is so tasty. I would always prefer to have a good meal in this restaurant. Highly recommended.

High quality sushi and staff since the 90s

I have been eating Sagano sushi since I was 8 years old. I am turning 26 this year, and I have loved this place always! Mr. Lee does a phenomenal job and no other sushi tastes nearly as good to me :)

Great Japanese restaurant, must try their Chirashi

I visit this spot a lot since I work in the area. I have to say their service is always excellent and they keep the place neat consistently. Pricing is reasonable and they serve big portions.

This used to be the go to place for sushi now I'm just wondering what happened to this place

Just had dinner there. Food was delicious and service was excellent. Scallops in special spicy hot sauce was very tasty and the beef Teriyaki was nice too. I tried the red bean ice cream and thought it was different but good.

The service may be slow, but the quality and taste are worth the wait. No place else has a California roll that is half real crab mixed with Japanese mayo—delicious! And I echo the other comment about the best spicy tuna roll. All their food is very fresh.
